The ingredients needed to prepare Sambar:
- Take For gravy
- Use 2 cup bottle guard
- You need 1 1/2 cup pumpkin
- Get 1 1/2 cup potatoes
- Provide 1 cup onion
- Take 1 cup toor dal or ahrar dal
- Take 2 tsp sambar masala
- Prepare Salt as taste
- Prepare 1/2 tsp turmeric
- You need For tadka
- Use 3 tsp oil
- You need 3 onions
- Prepare 2 Tomatoes
- Provide 5-6 buds garlic paste
- Use 1 1/2 inch ginger paste
- Use 1 cup tamarind water
- Provide Salt as taste
- Use Red chili powder
- Provide 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- Use 1/2 tsp corinder powder
- You need 1/2 garam masala
- Take 1 tsp sambar masala
- Provide 2 dry red chilies
- Take 1 bay leaves
- Prepare leaves Some curry
- Take Corinder leaves fine chopped
Instructions to make Sambar:
- Take a cooker and boil 2½cup water. Add bottle guard,pumpkin,potatoes, and onions (All have to be roughly chopped). Add salt, turmeric and sambar masala and toor dal to it. Cover with lid. Wait for 5-6 whistle on medium to low flame.
- Take a pan heat up oil. Add dry red chilies, bay leaf, and mustard seeds to it. Within 30 seconds Add ginger,garlic paste. After 30 -40 seconds add thin slice chopped onion and cook it untill golden brown. Then add tomatoes and cook it for about 1 minutes. Then add all spices. Salt, red chili powder,corinder powder, sambar masala, garam masala and stir it while cooking. Cook it untill oil releases.
- Then add vegetable gravy to it and give it a good mix.then add tamarind water to it. Or add same water if required. Boil it for 5 minutes. And its ready. Add some fine chopped corinder leaves to it.
